What is the grant search in GiveNow?
The grant search is a tool powered by the Funding Centre’s comprehensive grants database. GiveNow is pleased to provide a free tailored version of the Funding Centre’s database based on grants available to your organisation. These include federal, state and local government grants based on the location of your organisation.
The grant search feature is available free of charge to all registered OrgHQ users of organisations registered for the Pro plan.
What is the Funding Centre?
The Funding Centre is an enterprise of Our Community, along with GiveNow. It includes Australia's most comprehensive grants database, grant application management tools, and help sheets and tools to help not-for-profit organisations become more successful fundraisers.
How do I find grants?
Refine your search by entering keywords, filtering by provider (grantmaker/funder), location, category, eligibility, and funding amounts. Select the Search button to see results. You can also leave all fields blank and select the Search button to see all grants currently open.
Why can’t I find a grant I know is open?
Select the Clear button in the search box to remove some of the categories you have selected in your initial search, as they might not match the categories assigned to the grant you are searching for.
I’m getting too many results on the grants search page.
You can refine your search using the search filters. You can sort those grant results by the following:
- Grants most relevant to you
- Amount being offered
- Grant name
- Grants with application dates closing soon
- Grants most recently updated in the database
Why are there no grants available in my local government area?
You may find that searching for grants within your local government area (LGA) returns zero grant results. This may be because there are currently no open grants within your LGA. If the search filter has an Include closed grants toggle, turn it on to see closed grants.
If there are still no grants in your search results, widen your search by searching for grants across the state you are in or those available nationwide.
I am searching by activity categories; why are no grants appearing in my search results?
Activity categories are intended to be used in addition to grant categories. To get the most accurate grant results in your search, select at least one grant category. You can opt to also add a minimum of one activity categories to your grant search.
Not all grants listed have an activity category assigned. Try removing activity categories from the filters if you aren’t getting many grants in your search results.
Can I apply for a grant from the search page?
We do not accept applications on behalf of the funder through GiveNow or the Funding Centre. To apply for a grant listed on a search page, select the links listed at the bottom of the grant information page or the Apply button. You will be taken to the funder’s website for more information and to apply.
How is the GiveNow grant search different from the Funding Centre?
Organisations and individuals can subscribe directly to the Funding Centre to access a range of additional benefits that are not included within GiveNow.
These additional features include functionality to help you mange the process of applying to grants including:

- Receive customised newsletters, updates and alerts, including the EasyGrants newsletter.
- Curate grants on a personalised dashboard
- Manage grants processes, tasks and timelines
- View activity on a personalised grants calendar
- Store applications, reports and acquittals centrally
The GiveNow grant search uses the same data as the Funding Centre, but does not currently provide any of these additional tools. If you would like to know more, see the Funding Centre subscription-based service information.
