GiveNow account administrators can create and manage memberships in OrgHQ, making them available for purchase on your public GiveNow page or embedded on your website (Pro plan). Memberships are available on the Basic and Pro plans.
Note: Basic plan organisations can have up to two active memberships. Pro plan organisations can have unlimited active memberships. An active membership is any membership with an Active, Hidden (Active), or Pending status.
List a new membership
- Log in to OrgHQ.
- Go to Manage memberships, located under Memberships in the left-hand menu.
- If this is the first membership for your organisation, select Get started. You will be prompted to select an existing bank account or add a new one for membership remittances. If you already have membership programs, select Add new membership at the top right of the screen.
- On the General tab, enter the membership name, summary, and description. Upload an image and specify whether GST applies. For GST guidance, see Memberships and GST.
- On the Types tab, enter the name, description, and price for each membership type. Set the renewal frequency (for example, one-off, monthly, annually) and choose the renewal type (non-renewable, automatic renewal, or manual renewal). For annual memberships, you can also set a fixed renewal date and grace period.
- On the Purchase Form tab, specify the contact information required from members, add any custom questions, and customise the thank you message. Pro plan organisations can also customise the form design.
- On the Settings tab, set the lapse period (number of days after a renewal payment is overdue before the membership is marked as Lapsed), enable the daily membership report, enter a custom receipt note and any terms and conditions. Pro plan organisations can also enter their domain for embedding the membership form.
- Select Save to review the membership, or Save and submit to request activation from the GiveNow team.
Membership renewal options
Memberships can be set up with one of the following renewal types:
- Non-renewable: The membership does not renew after the initial term. This is the only option available for one-off memberships.
- Automatic renewal: The membership renews automatically at the end of each term. If a renewal payment fails, the membership status changes to Reprocessing while GiveNow attempts to collect payment again. Members receive a renewal reminder email 14 days before expiry.
- Manual renewal: Members need to manually renew their membership at the end of each term. They receive renewal prompt emails seven days and one day before expiry.
For annual memberships, you can set a fixed renewal date (for example, 1 January) so all members renew on the same date. If this is not selected, members renew on their individual anniversary dates. For more details on managing renewals, see How do I manage membership renewals?
