In the last few days of your CrowdRaiser? This is when a final push can make the biggest difference. Here are some strategies to help you reach — or exceed — your fundraising target.
1. Send a personal email.
Email is the most effective way to reach people who have not yet donated. Your message should include:
- A story people can connect with: Share something personal or specific about what donations will achieve. Convey hope, not gloom, and humanise the cause — less numbers, more names. Donors give because they care about what you care about.
- A shout-out to an existing donor: Thank someone who has already given. For example: "A big thank you to my niece who donated her entire week's pocket money — you are the spirit of generosity!"
- Your target and how close you are: Tell people exactly how much more you need. Suggest amounts that feel achievable for your audience — lots of $10 donations still add up.
2. Post on social media.
- Share how close you are to reaching your target, and mention the closing date to create urgency.
- Publicly thank friends who have already donated — this creates social proof and encourages others.
- Include images and videos. A photo of yourself in action or a short video message is far more engaging than a text-only post.
- Ask for shares, not just donations. Some people cannot give money but can amplify your message to their own networks.
3. Send direct messages.
A personal message to someone you know is much more effective than a broadcast post. A quick text, WhatsApp, or direct message saying "Hey, I am trying to raise the last $200 for [cause] — would you be able to chip in?" is direct, genuine, and hard to ignore.
4. Update your CrowdRaiser page.
Refresh your page content to reflect where things stand. Add a progress update, a new photo, or a note about what you have achieved so far. If you have already hit your original target, set a stretch goal — people love helping someone exceed their goal. You can edit your CrowdRaiser at any time through MyGiving.
5. Use your QR code in person.
Print or display your CrowdRaiser QR code at events, meetings, workplaces, or anywhere you interact with potential donors. It takes seconds for someone to scan and donate on the spot.
6. Send a "last chance" reminder on closing day.
On the final day, send one last email and social media post letting people know the CrowdRaiser closes today. Keep it short and grateful — thank everyone who has already contributed and let others know it is their last opportunity to get involved.
7. Thank your donors.
Do not wait until the campaign ends. Thank donors as they come in — you can do this directly through the My Supporters page in MyGiving. See Can GiveNow help me thank donors? People who feel appreciated are more likely to share your CrowdRaiser with others.
