There are three phases in the Salesforce integration configuration. This article covers the OrgHQ side. For the Salesforce platform setup, see How do I configure Salesforce for GiveNow?
Phase 1: Initial setup
OrgHQ administrators for organisations on the Pro plan can access the integrations page via Integrations, located under Details in the left-hand menu.
After selecting Set up integration, GiveNow will send an email with instructions for configuring your Salesforce platform. Follow the steps in How do I configure Salesforce for GiveNow? to complete the Salesforce-side setup.
After the email is sent, GiveNow provides the configuration screen for connecting to Salesforce.
Phase 2: Establishing a connection
Enter the consumer key and consumer secret from the Salesforce connected application you configured in the previous step. Choose your environment: Sandbox or Production.
Note: We recommend connecting to a Sandbox environment first. This gives you the opportunity to preview the donation data that is posted and tune your settings before applying the configuration to Production.
After submitting, GiveNow attempts to connect to Salesforce. If the connected application was recently created, you may need to wait 5–10 minutes for Salesforce to initialise it. If you see an error screen, go back, wait, and submit again.
Once the application is ready, Salesforce will display its standard login screen.
Log in and confirm the access rights when prompted.
Phase 3: Configuring donation settings
After connecting, GiveNow displays the donation configuration page.
Configure the following settings:
- Opportunity stage: Select the stage from your Salesforce platform to assign to all opportunities created by GiveNow.
- Opportunity record type: Select the record type to assign to all opportunities created by GiveNow.
- Include failed regular donations: If selected, GiveNow sends regular donations that are declined by the financial institution to Salesforce.
- Opportunity stage for failed donations: Visible when "Include failed regular donations" is selected. Select the stage to assign to failed donation opportunities.
- Contact matching rules: Select the rule used to look up donors in Salesforce. Available rules (applied in this order): First Name + Last Name + Phone, First Name + Last Name + Email, First Name + Email, Last Name + Email. Multiple rules can be selected.
- Donations starting from: Set a date to only send donations created from that date onwards.
- Use GiveNow Donations Campaign: If selected, GiveNow creates a "GiveNow Donations" parent campaign. All GiveNow campaigns are posted under it.
- Use Cause Campaign for One-off Donations: If selected, GiveNow creates campaigns matching your cause names for one-off donations.
- Notify about integration problems: If selected, GiveNow sends a notification email to the user who set up the integration if problems are encountered.
After submitting, the Salesforce configuration details page is displayed and GiveNow begins sending retrospective donations. For more on how donations are sent, see How are donations sent to Salesforce?
