You just need to know when each can be helpful!
Whether you love it or not, social media is one of the prime communication methods in use today. Most families and guardians are connected with the school via social media as part of a school’s usual communications strategy.
There are many different social media vehicles and you will need to choose the ones which work best with your school community. You may find you use both Facebook and Instagram, but not Twitter or vice versa.
Whatever you use, social media is the most effective communication vehicle you have to both announce and promote the campaign, but also to update your community on progress.
Importantly however, when it comes down to the actual ask for donations by students and their families, we strongly recommend that this is done by email. Sending an email makes the ask a little more direct and personal. The response rate via email will always higher than social media asks, especially if your students nail the subject line, personalise the greeting and include a (short) story.
